![]() ![]() We mustered up our remaining energies and headed off back down the streets of Seoul to make the most of my last night in the big city.Īfter wandering the streets for a while we found a new night club. I got the floor, being a gentleman and all (but not the kind of Gentleman depicted by Psy’s new youtube sensation). The three of us, Nakita, Laura and myself shared a room. Eventually we found a place and parted ways with Luke and Min. This took a while as many places were full and many were out of our price range. I had a modest meal because I knew I’d be having cheaper and more sizable meat portions in just a few days…įollowing dinner, we began the process of finding a place to rest our weary heads. There, I introduced my friends to a little bit of South African culture and food. ![]() We went to the South African restaurant, Braai Republic, in Itaewon (An area of Seoul that has many foreigners in it). Later that evening I met up with Laura, Nakita, Luke and Min. I regret not spending more time with her. It was good to see her again and, yet again, it was strange to be saying hi-and-bye to a friend I hadn’t seen for a few months. Hye In and I caught up in a coffee shop for an hour or so and then parted for the last time. After lunch the others went and chilled in a coffee shop while I ran off to the bank to initiate a transfer of monies back home to South Africa and then to meet up with one of my old Korean friends, Hye In. Afterwards, we met up with Nakita and wd went for lunch (We just went to a Kimbab Nara for lunch –an affordable option). Much of the art was lost on me… But I’m all for gaining culture so I gave it a try anyway. The pigeons were given free-reign on the delicate green mat and cooed their condescending insults at us. We also looked longingly at the cordoned off soft-grass. There we walked around on the beautiful clear day and admired the contrast between the old Korean buildings in the foreground and modern skyscrapers in the background. When we got to Seoul we headed for Doeksugung palace. Korea is really humid and hot at the moment and so I was dripping with sweat by the time I reached the station). So, I ended up having to take a speedy jog to the station instead. I hurriedly packed up my remaining items into a small rucksack and rushed off to catch the metro train to Seoul (I left about the same time as I would normally leave for bicycle transit to the station… but this time I had no bike. I made a quick breakfast of steak and eggs and washed it down with a cup of English Breakfast tea. The following morning, Saturday, I awoke at 7:30. He left at about 1 am and I crawled into bed in a rather weary and depleted state… I hadn’t seen him for about 4 months so it was strange to say hi and goodbye under such circumstances. At 11:30pm, my friend Jin Byol came over. After catching up with Min, I headed back to my apartment. ![]() After that, I met up with my Korean friend Min for an all-you-can-eat meat buffet (my 3 rd for that week). I then caught a taxi and took most of my luggage to a friend’s apartment because I was to be evicted on Saturday. On Friday night I rushed home after work and gave some of my remaining household items to a friend. Rather, I’m prone to getting side tracked during the packing process with non-essential activities. Not because I really had that much to pack. The packing I found to be a rather daunting and time consuming process. Also, I had to start packing and squishing a few essential items into my luggage. Last week had I saw my friends every night of the week. The last few days of mine in Korea have been rather busy. I have had plenty of time to reminisce and there is a premature nostalgia that seems to already be setting in… I am now at Incheon airport waiting to board a plane back to South Africa. ![]()
